Matthew Williamson for H&M
Fast-fashion emporium H&M has worked with with a diverse group of talents including most recently Rei Kawakubo, Stella McCartney and Karl Lagerfeld. Now, British talent Matthew Williamson will do a summer guest, capsule collection for the retailer. The first part to be released April 23, 2009 and the second half in May. The two-part collection will included items for both men and women.
Margareta van den
Bosch (above with Williamson), the queen bee/creative adviser at H&M said: "Matthew has such a good eye and a way for working with prints that
he mixes up in a new way. When he combines these things, you get a very
contemporary London look." Matthew Williamson is know for bold colour blocks, flattering slim cuts, and counts high-profiled performers such as Rihanna, Thandie Newton, Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan as fans and clients. He is the former head designer for the splashy Italian label Pucci.
The wonder-boy of hyper-colour said of his upcoming collaboration with H&M: “I love the fact that H&M have created a new phenomenon in
fashion through the pioneering concept of collaborating with high-end
designers to create one-off limited edition capsule collections. I am
thrilled that my creations for H&M will be accessible to and
hopefully enjoyed by so many people around the world."
I hope he'll do swimwear for men because his trademark colour palettes are just awesome.
